Prayers Need 12/13/16

12/13/16 - News of Tony Callies' physical check up with blood test. All came out normal (liver is normal) except platelet, too low, need to take blood test on Dec. 30 and Tony will see his heart doctor in Jan. 11.  Thank you for praying for him.  Dorothy 

 12/13/16 Alice Hodgson request prayer: We need your prayer for next Wednesday, we are going to drive to New Jersey to visit our older daughter and family. We will stay for a few days. My husband, Fred is worried about driving through the snow and felt it's risky. Please pray that he will trust God to help him through.  Merry Christmas to you and Tony. Prayer Praise Report for Tony Callies and Terry Newman:

On Wednesday, Dec. 10th, Tony Callies went to Pulmonary Doctor to check his lungs and actually he is doing fine. Didn't really need to see him in the first place. The reason we came to this doctor was the question I asked his Cardiology doctor how would she know if Tony is completely free from the blood clots since last year he went to ER for that. The medicine he takes was about Pradaxa. That is when the doctor gave details that we didn't know about. Pradaxa does not cure blood clots. Pradaxa only prevent the cells from multiply the blood clots and it allows the nature to heal the blood clots itself. So now it seems he doesn't have blood clots as long as he keeps taking Pradaxa to prevent it. So that was the information we needed to hear and didn't know that for one whole year!

About Tony's flu that he had last week, I actually thought he had a problem and I was ready to take him to ER, but Tony kept telling me to wait one more day to make sure. Each day, he seems better and better which I was relief. I also use Pulse Oximeter for testing with finger to check his oxygen measure to make sure he was above 92 and etc.

Then Tuesday morning on Dec. 9th, I discovered Tony had shingles so I called his family doctor immediately to see if he could get his medicine right away. That same morning, the Doctor checked on Tony and prescribed medicine for him. What's amazing was that Tony did not have any pain and it did not show any raw spots. It seems to be dried up. The doctor was surprised. Most shingles were painful, but Tony did not feel any pains. I believed your prayers must have done that. 

Lastly before the doctor left, he teased Tony said that he will see him for 23 more years. Tony responds, "No way will I live that long. Give me a break!." They laughed and then doctor said, "See me next year for routine check up." Then the nurse came in and she took the time to explain what Tony had was actually flu because last week many people and children got the flu and it was going around. She explained that it was probably why Tony was exposed to the flu at that time. Also that it wasn't really his body that had problems as we had assumed. It was flu so naturally, Tony is okay.

So I believe your prayers kept Tony from getting too sick which usually last two weeks. Instead he got better after five days and much better two more days later. Today, he said, "Boy, I really felt good and much better. I appreciated the prayers very much."

Terry Newman had high cholesterol level which made him passed out. The doctor gave him medicine to keep the cholesterol on lower level. What I am thankful for that it happened at the hospital when the nurse was there to help him right away. God knows how to take care of His people. So thank you for your prayers!

#35 Dec 10 Report and Prayer Requests

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." 

I like to share this: "We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose" Romans 8:28, The Amplified Bible.

This verse greatly encourages us, God's children when we must endure suffering in this life. God will bring good out of all affliction, trials, persecution, and suffering. The good that God brings about is conforming us to the image of Christ and most important bringing about our glorification (Rom. 8:29). 

12/7/14 Pauline Braddy: We had been praying for her since she went to the hospital and nursing home for rehab exercise. She has improved a lot to where she could move around. She is on dialysis machine for kidneys' purifying three times a week. She moved into Assistant Living Apartment with two bedrooms so her husband, John Braddy could moved in with her. They will put their house for sale in January 2015. John who is in his 80's was not able to take care of Pauline if she returned to their original home. They were blessed that all things went well with the help of their two daughters. Dorothy

Janet Memenga: She had two knee surgeries at two different times last October and November. We had been praying for her. She was able to walk much better and she lost some weight. She looks wonderful and was thankful for your prayers. She still needs prayer for complete healing from discomfort sometimes in her knees. Dorothy

Bill Eckstein, Ruth's husband: Bill was getting weaker since he had to be put on oxygen for 24 hours a day since few months. He has difficulty in getting up. Ruth is doing fine considering her age. Their daughter, Kay and Jack, her son-in-law lives with them and that was a blessing to Ruth and Bill. Dorothy

Pastor Terry Newman of Normal Deaf Church: On Saturday, Dec. 6th, Pastor Terry, Suzy, Janet and Judy went together to travel from Bloomington to Peoria which is about 45 minutes drives to visit a deaf friend who were deeply depressed for the lost of his best buddy friend. After the visiting time, the three ladies stayed on to visit while Terry came out to sit down for a rest. Instead he passed out and hit his back neck to where he fell. The nurse who happened to be there took immediate care of Terry and put him with a lot tests to find out what cause the problem. He had to stay in the hospital while three ladies came home. Suzy, his wife went to visit him last Sunday, Dec. 7th to find out the results. Please pray for Terry. Dorothy

Tony Callies: He had been sick with running nose from Dec. 3rd through 6th. After much rest, he seems to be improving very slowly. He worked some on Monday at Taco Bell and realized he isn't "out of the wood" yet. He was suppose to see Doctor to check his pulmonary lungs, but they didn't contact interpreter so it was postpone until Wed. Dec. 10th at 1 pm.  Please pray for Tony that he gets his energy back. Rock Like Our God

Hannah praised God for being a Rock, a God who is firm, strong, and unchanging. In our fast-paced world, friends come and go, and circumstances change. It is difficult to find a solid foundation that will not change. Those who devote their lives to achievements, causes, or possessions have as their security which has some certain limits and often changeable. The possessions that we work so hard to get will all pass away. But God is always present. Hope in Him. He will never fail. [Part of the notes from resources]

Don't Be Afraid

Bread Verse by Dorothy Callies

Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you” (NLT).

The word, dismayed interest me to search the meaning when God said, “Do not be dismayed.” So God is saying, “Do not let things ‘to cause you to lose courage’ or ‘to feel concern.’” In another word, upset or to feel disturb greatly especially in mind. Do not be upset or feel bothersome in your mind. Do not let your mind trouble you.

The word, afraid also has another meaning that interests me, “having a dislike for something” that we don’t want it there. We don’t want it because it upset us. We want things to be perfect and in harmony. When it isn’t in harmony, we feel “screw up.” Things are not smooth the way we want it.

I remember Jesus’ word: “Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid. Believe in God. Believe also in Me.” (Ref. Jn. 14:1, 27) God does not want us to be afraid. God wants us to build our trust in Him. To build our trust means that we are to quote His promises that He will continue His grace and strengthen to face all the circumstances of life. He will help us through times of crises. He quoted, “I am with you. I am your God.”

When we quote the promises of God, it would be like “we are bathing ourselves into His Presence.” Bathing would be like “swimming into the flows of the Spirit,” the rivers of life from the very throne of God. (Ref. Rev. 22:1). Bathing would wash off our being afraid and washing off our dismay in us. He would fill us with peace as Jesus said, “My peace I give it to you.” I pray in the name of Jesus that there would be peace inside of you. Amen!

Hope Series 27

Revelation 21:5 - "And he (Jesus) that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me (John), Write: for these words are true and faithful."

            
            Theme: Revelation, A Book of Hope

God opened the "Genesis" with His new creation, a paradise for Adam and Eve while "Revelation" closes human history. But there is one distinct (clearly seen) difference in Revelation--evil is gone forever. Genesis describes a garden with an evil serpent; Revelation describes a perfect city with no evil. The Garden of Eden was destroyed by sin; but paradise is re-created in the New Jerusalem.

Jesus said, "Behold, I make all things new." God is the creator. The Bible begins with the majestic story of His creation of the universe, and it concludes (end) with His creation of a new heaven and a new earth. This is a tremendous hope and encouragement for the believer.

The book of Revelation ends with an urgent plea; "Come, Lord Jesus!" In a world of problems, persecution, evil, and immorality, Lord Jesus Christ calls us to endure in our faith. Our goal is to hold on to the hope of His calling that God has given us to do, endure.

Revelation is, above all, a book of hope. It shows that no matter what happens on earth, God is in control. It promises that evil will not last forever. Like Scripture said, "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet (Rom. 16:20a). And Revelation represents a picture of the wonderful reward that is waiting for all who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Rev. 22:21)

Hope Series 26

Job 42:7a - Then The Lord said to Eliphaz, "I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not been right in what you have said about Me, as My servant Job was."


                Theme: Hope for Job's Friends
 
God made it clear that Job's friends were wrong. Job's friends made the mistakes of guessing that Job's suffering was caused by some great sin. They were judging Job without knowing what God was doing. This should warn us to avoid making any rash judgments about a person we "think we know" because God may be working in ways we know nothing about.

Does Job's friends have any hope of forgiveness from God and from Job? Yes, God gave them an instruction what they must do. They were to take some animals for burnt offering and go to Job for offering. God said for Job to pray and intercede for them.  When Job prayed for his friends, The Lord gave back everything he had lost, but this time, twice as much as before (Job 42:8-10).

What can we learn from this? After Job receiving much criticism, Job was still able to pray for his three friends. Is it difficult to forgive someone who has accused us of wrong doing? Job gave us a perfect example that he did forgave his friends. Job prayed for them when they had hurt him. Job forgave them. Can we forgive our friends who hurt us?

God called Job a good man and God had Job prayed for them. Their only hope was through Job's intercession for them. If your friends have hurt you and God might be angry at them for hurting you, would you pray to God and ask Him to spare them from His anger and cover them with the blood of Jesus and ask God to save their soul?

The key to all this one verse: "Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up." (James 4:10) I have quoted this so often when I had faced some challenges of criticism. God will reward you when you pray for them. There's peace in forgiveness.

So trust God today!

PS. I know it's long, but I believe that many of us might have faced this. I love this devotion because of who God was and still is through the story of Job. This soften my heart about God Himself. I love Him!
