Ephesians
2:13, KJV: “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off made nigh by
the blood of Christ.” NLT: Though you once were far away from God, now you have
been brought near to Him because of the blood of Christ.”
In
the past, we were “without Christ.” This means that we as Gentiles did not know
about salvation. We did not have Jesus Christ. We had no hope. We were without
God in the world. We had nothing to look beyond ourselves.
Paul
said, “BUT NOW” you have been brought near to God because of Jesus’ blood.”
Once you were far away from God, BUT NOW you are close to Him because of the
blood of Christ. Once you was a sinner, BUT NOW you are forgiven through Christ
who died on the cross for you. NOW, you are a God’s child. You can come close
to Him. There’s a new name written down in heaven.
Song:
A New Name in Glory
Verse:
I
was once a sinner but now I came
Pardon
to receive from my Lord
This
was freely given and I found
That
my name was written down.
Chorus:
There’s
a new name written down in glory,
And
it’s mine, O yes it’s mine!
And
the white-robed angels sing the story,
“A
sinner has come home.”
For
there’s a new name written down in glory
And
it’s mine, O yes it’s mine!
With
my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven
Nevermore
to roam.
