Everlasting Arms

Bread Verse by Dorothy Callies

Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them” (KJV).

Do you need help? Here is a reminder. “There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides in the heavens to help you. He rides on the clouds in his glory” (Deut.33:26 NIRV). Do you need deliverance? Here is a reminder. “God lives forever! You can run to him for safety. His powerful arms are always there to carry you. He will drive out your enemies to make room for you. He’ll say to you, ‘Destroy them!” (Deut.33:27 NIRV).

Our ancient God is your home. He is like your government who will protect you. The underneath means under the control of. What will God control? He will thrust out and push out with force against the enemy who tried to destroy us. He shall say, “Destroy them and put them to destruction.” Thank You, Lord for reminding us that You are still in control and that our trust is in Your everlasting arms.

Song: Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms
Chorus:
Lean – ing, lean – ing,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Lean – ing, lean – ing,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

2. Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
